Grays in Thurrock is located just off of the A13 (London Road) near Tilbury, on the west side of Essex. Whether you are a local student at South Essex College or use the local train line links on Fenchurch Street line it is a great place to take an intensive driving course. The A13 dual carriageway links you to the M25 and with lots of local A roads, you can expect to meet all types of roads when learning to drive. The area is well known for its Port and historic fort found on the banks of the River Thames.
The local Driver & Vehicle Standards Agency practical driving test centre is located in Tilbury Town which is just a short drive across town or down the A1089. The test centre does have its own car park but it is rarely used for parking manoeuvres during a driving test as it is very small. You will, however, need to be parked in the car park at the start of your driving test. The test routes can either take you through towards East Tilbury or Orsett, taking in a few country roads or may head towards Grays, where you may be expected to negotiate the multi-laned roundabout Treacle Mine.
It is of vital importance that learner drivers can drive safely. They need the skills to drive on all types of roads before taking a driving test. Learner drivers need to prepare for a lifetime of safe driving, not learn just enough to pass a driving test. Learning to drive can be quite daunting for any new driver, particularly in busy areas, but our instructors are here to help and use their knowledge not only to aid you in passing your test but also to drive safely.
To get prepared for your driving test you will need to spend some time practising around the roads found at Chadwell St Mary which has many mini-roundabouts, Orsett which has the A13 and a large roundabout known as the Orsett Cock and the newer residential area Chafford Hundred.
